Mother’s Habit

Mom and Me, 1996ish

~

When she was thinking, seeking clarity

She softly squinted her brown eyes

like she was far away from the moment

Taking her right hand, lifting it to her nose

placing the top side of her pointy finger

beneath her nose in repose.

With her middle finger in an

exaggerated caress, steadily,

at times vigorously, or very slowly,

she would pet the bridge of her nose

down and past the soft bulb of it

in an easy steady slide, meeting

with a flick of her finger at the end then

tapping the back of her index finger.

Repeating this motion many times

in a variety of rhythmic beats even

when clarity seemed to have found her.

~

It was a charming and odd way to ponder

to this child’s mind even into adulthood,

seeking the deeper meaning of the ways of life,

if that was indeed what she was doing.

It was necessary to copy it, to see

what it felt like to be like her, to do it.

Was there magic in it, and did clarity

actually knock on her mind and give it?

I found it comforting to do it, relaxing.

Practicing the various ways of the

caress, the pet, the quick and slow

slides down my nose with that

generous flick at the end.

~

Decades passed and it became an artifact

of my mother that I thought I had forgotten.

Put it away in my heart with her death and

the many other quirks and foible treasures

to be pulled up and out in remembrance.

And this one idiosyncrasy brought to

my attention by a loved one.

“You’re just like you mother.

That nose thing she did.

How she pets it when she was sitting

quietly thinking,  you do that too”.

Into The Fire

3/5/3/3/7/5. Shadorma 26 syllables

This is poetry form taken as a prompt from the NaPoWriMo.net website for todays poem

artist unknown to me.

~

Into the Fire

~

There is no

dousing the fire

when it all

needs to burn

fan the flame of destruction

what is done is done

~

Make sacred

the empty land of

blackened waste

an altar to new beginnings

the phoenix rises

Charting the Heart

Today’s prompt from napowrimo.net is to select 10 random words and then add 3-4 words that rhyme with them and make up a poem… I took a photo of what the mess I created looks like… Gives you an idea of how it went.

There is a course to chart with the heart
It can start from any need that rises in the seed
of love's demand as you reach out your hands
making a new history from this complicated mystery

Ask permission for a hug respect the little shrug
No need to have the rug pulled out from under you
Respecting the Land that is of other is not in your command
Armadillos are not soft cloud billows to wrap around

There is no need to shove, offer the peace of the dove
Read the body's message of love come hither
Luminescent Alchemy, roots out any blasphemy
Death's casket waits in the line of your mortality

Queen of Whispering Darkness

15 April 2019.  napowrimo

Facebook brings interesting offerings. This is a shareable one for a little ‘poeming’

What’s Your Tarot Card Name? mmmmm?

~

you are all That

Queen of Whispering Darkness

Give of your secrets on a wisp of dark

Dwell in the quietude of soft words

All hail to the absence of Light

~

Eyes closed to receive the gratitudes

Life dispenses the latitudes in moments

Fill me with the bounty of shadows

So that I might know my brilliance

~

In the silence infinity is remembered

In full surrender this open heart

In sovereignty I receive  wisdom’s gifts

To the whisper I give myself fully

~

And in the name that I now claim

I am the same and different

on a  whisper, in the dark

All is known and soon forgot

~

In choice all comes to repeat

Love is the great retreat waiting

Close to your heart ears listen

Timeless in this message

~

Queen of Whispering Darkness

remains in shadow’s keep

Out Loud she reigns in all her Light

Both Shadow and Light hold The answers

In the Sense of Being EveryWhere

This is inspired by the NaPoWriMo prompt of.  ‘Where are you from’  day 10

~

into the Infinite

There is a sense of Everywhere in me

That Infinity has me and I am all That

The complete mystery of what that means

to be of stars and galaxies

to be of nebula and unmeasured

vastness

~

The dead darkness of nothingness

and the blinding sparkle of starlight

 within eternal spirals of MilkWays

 beyond my smallness, the hardly-a-

speck of me in the EveryWhere

~

And yet, Infinity has all of me

here on this rotating blue green planet

nestle in an orbital path around one

grand and yet very small Sun

holding my temporal body hostage

~

To gravitational pull and assured

body death as I live held here in the

choice of communing with others

that has distant remembrance

of the electric Blue entity of my Soul

that has made a short respite on Earth

~

To live to know love and tenderness

To die to the release,

to again find freedom

in the Everywhere

of Everything

and Nothingness.

~

Souls travel to know this voluminesences

This magnificence of such a Mystery

of the One Heart unfolding into every

boundless other heart, remembering

the quintessential vibration of Oneness
