NATURE WINS !

23 April 2019

~

Some poems are a ramble… Like this one. Sat down and this is what I got.

~~~~~
Nature is persistent in the way She gives
There is not a moment when the giving stops
Not a moment when Nature is ceaselessly
recalibrating where she will unleash Her elements
to make beauty or lay mayhem.
If the Sun isn’t shining here, it is somewhere else
If it’s raining here, it isn’t somewhere else
A draught means there is a flood, somewhere else
And endless conspire to do as She pleases.
Displaying Her might and sovereignty
wherever she Will.
There is no fooling Nature,
There is no controlling Nature.
There often is no rhyme or reason
Nature does not need us to thrive
She privileges us with her allowance
in tolerating our insipid taking
from her with giving little if any
return.
Nature Wins
We are a dis-ease on her
May we learn to ceaselessly
honor her before she does
a back flip and we’re gone
Nature wins
HAVE WE TALKED YET
18 April 2019
The Gilded Tarot
~
Have we talked yet
about the hard conversations
  when your body refuses you
  when loneliness consumes you
  when every which way is no way
  when abandonment keeps you victim
  when you feel not enough or
    maybe too much
  when nothing will Ever be perfect
  when death takes a beloved
  when aging lies to you
  when youth betrays you
  when loves leave you
  when dis-ease eats away at you
  when death stalks you
~
Have we talked yet
 about the way love finds us
   in the sudden heart opening
   in a flirt of an eye
   at the coffee shop
   in remembrance of what was
   in the feeling of what Is
   at that wedding
   in the gentle caress
   in the hard fuck
   at a spiritual retreat
   in an unexpected moment
   in the radiance of another light
  at the corner from your house
~
Have we talked yet
  about our closeness to the Earth
  about the way a walk in a
     a forest clears the busy mind
  about how trees and plants
    desire our communion
  about the dance of the clouds
  about the rain’s heart beats
  about the way the river calls you
  about a murmuration
  about how the fey entities know you
  about moss and leaves and dirt
  about noticing the song of dragonflies
  about the seasons greetings
  about rolling in the leaves
  about swimming naked in the sea
~
Have we talked yet
  about the Infinite Universe
  about the magnificence of Being
  about the Truth of Love
  about sin and evil
  about rage and joy
  about the wonder of breathing
  about feelings and emotions
  about the Holy grail
  about the nothingness and
     the Everything
  about how we care for each other
  about kindness and grace
  about the transparency of honesty
~
Have we talked yet
  Because, I’d like to know you
OTHERSIDE
DSCN0346
In the the tangle of roots and leaf
in the quiet of wood and bark
In the smell of pine and earth
Eyes fly wide open in a gasp
Life force resumes in the push
of breath ballooning lungs
with tingling cells in the rush
of blood from heart to head
From a slow to nothing return
Life racing, racing.
The restraint of wood and roots
ease with her steady heart beat
and the even flow of air to lungs.
What was before her eyes only
moments ago assure her
she is where she began in the so-it-seems
The Light hangs differently
Wind tickles her edges
and the silence has no voice
in the birds and scamper of
squirrels and rabbits.
“Mother, Mother. leaps from her lips
eyes darting in the familiar unfamiliar
The fine carriage and horses
nowhere to be seen,
No road, No human presence
The ocean sparkles in the distance.
Aloneness is a quiver inside rising.
WHAT WE IMAGED
EMPTY PRESENCE
Vast is the presence of the infinite
Empty in the unknown
Spacious beyond comprehension
Waiting for a message
Fingertips poised for the tap
The mundane gathers the call
Waiting for the whisper of a gift
Feeling the sureness of words
That the cosmos will deliver
Hard is the buzz of the amour stink bug
In the immediacy of the invite
Hidden in the folds of the curtains
The winged buzz threatens a landing
Breaking into Empty presence
A thief of the silent waiting.
Hands and arms flapping it away
Utterances of unkindnesses
Knowing the creepy feel of that crawl
The awareness now seeks to awaken
This traveler that meets the intrusion
with resistance and a curse
What say you armored bug?
Gift me with your presences
Share the vastness of this Now
I give you freedom in winter chill
As the last bit of life of you
Speaks to the One Heart
In the Empty presence of
The vastness that is in All
Wisdom is in everything
* * * * * * * *
If I ever forget
the trout that rose
behind the biggest stone
in the middle of the stream
near Whitefish
the year that just my Mother and I
went to fish camp
Remind me, would you?
Its snout surfaced
to take a Blue Olive
drifted just so over the top of the rock
and spilled into the eddying pool.
Remind me how the orange maples’
reflection shone on its back.
LIFE ON EARTH
The stirring of the world around me in the rising of Spring’s renewal , and  the intense enveloping of the political world, give me a clear view of the duality that I rest in every day.   There is no avoiding either.    Better to settle into the greening and the thunder, then to let the angry righteousness of people fill me with fear and victimization.
Give me Earth’s Wisdoms, however it chooses to unfold.
Rise up to the Great Awakening
Out there is the Kingdom of God
Take wonder and awe at The Infinite
Embrace the Oneness of the Universe
Out there is the Kingdom of God
Standing on the lush crest looking outward
Embrace the Oneness of the Universe
Smelling the rising green of Spring’s awakening
Standing on the lush crest looking outward
Make witness to Creation’s magnificence
Smelling the rising green of Spring’s awakening
Take belief in the perfection of Spirit
Make witness to Creation’s magnificence
Darkness and Light are Earth’s gravity
Take belief in the perfection of Spirit
Know the destruction of Element’s colliding
~
Darkness and Light are Earth’s gravity
It is in their embrace that we find wholeness
Know the destruction of Element’s colliding
Love holds the soft and harsh of living
~
It is in their embrace that we find wholeness
Will you gather what soothes and what gives anguish?
Love holds the soft and harsh of living
Fear flourishes in the grip of self-righteousness
~
Will you gather what soothes and what gives anguish?
Can you swim in the pool of loneliness?
Fear flourishes in the grip of self-righteousness
Will you let in differences to end fearfulness?
~
Can you swim in the pool of loneliness?
Forgiveness is in the Spring of renewal
Will you let in differences to end fearfulness?
Gratitude is ever present in an open heart
~
Forgiveness is in the Spring of renewal
Take wonder and awe at The Infinite
Gratitude is ever present in an Open heart
RETURN TO EARTH’S WISDOM
day 21…
garden2000#2
dscn9681
Return to Earth’s wisdom
Listen to the message she calls you to hear
With heart centered silence, wait
The roots of the trees know your every move
~
Abide gently on this surface
Take no more than what you can return
Be not a cancer that will extinct itself
Let the Spring wash you clean
~
Give prayer for all this abundance
Fill up on the gratitude of Earth’s offerings
Steward the place that you live and breath on
She evolves as you do
~
We are all connected
Not one small seed, or grain of sand
Is without the grace and presence
Of being here sharing this space with you
~
Return to Earth’s wisdom
Breath with the wind
Walk with the roots
Let the rain purify you
Lay in the grass and listen
CICADA
CICADA
It comes right from their bellies
that call to life on these dog days
When Summer gives all of herself
to the hot damp of evenings
and the just enough breeze that
gives cool moist on to your surfaces
Their tymbal drum
 and drum
and drum
right from the gut of them
that place of feeling that sings
the days and nights to love
in their awaking from dirt
and bark on to the sea of grass
and leaves
Of the return to their song
in that drum
drum
drum
feel into the blue to midnight
Into the in-between of how
the vital brilliance of corals
purples, violets, and oranges
celebrate on the horizons edge
in the cadence of time
for the Earth’s roll
around the
Sun.
Expanding and contracting
their bellies for the long hot days
for us to know their song
in the short of summer heat
and the longing for
love to be found
in the
drum
drum
drum
