THE NARROWS

PACIFIC NORTHWEST 083

Skookumchuck Narrows before the tide came in on a full moon night

PACIFIC NORTHWEST 2 024

SKOOKUMCHUCK NARROWS, BC.   2005  The tide came in.

~

I take the Narrow’s tempestuousness slit

My boat lost to a long ago of well being

The full moon calls the Sea to give rise to the tide

She pulls its out to bring it in

What comes  in greets what is going out

a violent swirl, a vortex of pull and funneled force

A ride like wild mustangs in a fevered run

Holding on as if life means everything

And everything means nothing

but to ride out the tide

~

I take the Narrows on this full moon night

For want to imagine this journey of all journeys

Will gather  me in under the luminous night orb

Drown me to make me wholy and awakened

to rise out of the depths of my ending

Washed clean. left naked, pulling in air

before my lungs explode in defeat

Dreaming of the gills that let me swim

before this time of living knew that limitation.

~

I took the Narrows to an ending

Finding the breath of a new beginning

Waiting for the next unfolding.

Do Not Enter…

This poem comes from a prompt of Jill Badonsky.    “Write to expose those things that need light to be shed upon them.”

What are those place within and around that have a ‘Do Not Enter’ sign on them?

clone2

It wasn’t hard to push at that mind space

The sign, Do Not Enter, was a lazy drape over the frontal lobe

Almost like it was ready to slip right out my open mouth

With a sudden blurt, an uninhibited want to speak the hidden

How many times had it been readjusted perfectly to ward that off?

~

The mind was churning with want to expose

The  heart voice hoped to know better of it

The bubble and brew within the cranial housing

couldn’t hold the thoughts old and hungry for release

Readjusting the signs yet again hoping no one would knock

~

Hoping that what needed to fly out into the open

could be contained

a little longer,

a little longer

just a little longer.

~

Clarity’s want gave one hard pound on the bony surface

Took hold of that Do Not Enter sagging there

Flipped it off like a spider on a shoulder

Out rolled the hurt, the frustration,

The holding on for dear life.

~

It wasn’t meant to hurt the beloved traveling The Path

Only to speak to what drives the hurt

What lays waste to  dreams

What shudders and boils old fear

And here we are blistered, peeling pain off

~

Never was the want of clarity so unclear

There is no re-hanging the Do Not Enter

There is no taking back what needed saying

The sign fell and seethes in the pot of life’s letting go

Adding single drops of forgiveness to get it right again

I deeply appreciate that.

As is my favorite style of poetry, I give you a pantoum.

BE HERE NOW

A day comes to sunset, a story ends, a loved one dies.

A relationship meets its closure, a beginning finds it’s end

And endings make a place for a new possibility

Life is woven in spirals, cycles of starts and finishes

~

A relationship meets its closure, a beginning finds its end

The in-betweens hold the reactions, the bitter and the sweet

Life is woven in spirals, cycles of starts and finishes

Curves and turns, betrayals and losses, the heart breaks

~

The in-betweens hold the reaction, the bitter and the sweet

The re-start is out of reach in the crush of life’s take away

Curves and turns, betrayals and losses, the heart breaks

A new day gives rise out of the dark night

~

The re-start is out of reach in the crush of life’s take away

And endings make a place for a new possibility

A new days gives rise out of the dark night

A day comes to sunset, a story ends, a loved one dies

It doesn’t matter how the wind will twirl

hair as milky way

day 24…

It doesn’t matter how the wind will twirl around you

You walk on the edge of innocence hopeful

There is no banner of where you have been or the road ahead

Waiting has no more options, or anything else to do

~

You walk on the edge of innocence hopeful

Life has cracked open in the unexpected way it does

Waiting has no more options, or anything else to do

Some words that live in the breeze call you out of darkness

~

Life had cracked open in the unexpected way it does

The nature of elements is to liberate life’s mysteries

Some words that live in the breeze call you out of darkness

Listening will make its demands if you’re not listening

~

The nature of elements is to liberate life’s mysteries

Senses wide open and willing will capture the innuendo

Listening will make its demands if you’re not listening

Choice has you right where it has always wanted you

~

Senses wide open and willing will capture the innuendo

There is no banner of where you have been or the road ahead

Choice has you right where it has always wanted you

It doesn’t matter how the wind will twirl around you

PRINCE… a tribute

Prince_chart.jpeg.CROP.thumbnail-small

Thousand of tributes praise your name

We gather to shed our Purple Rain

The Guitars round the world Gently Weep

While we like Thieves in a Temple mourn your death sleep

~

You Got The Look we all chased after to see

You HardRocklover your destiny to be

If I Was Your Girlfriend, known you a bit

In that Little Red Corvette next to you I would sit

~

Do Me Baby, get us all Soft and Wet.

You Princed around us and we hungered to get

A piece of your grandeur, FallinLove2nite

You Got the Look that gave us your great musical Light

~

What is too soon to go? What is the right time to leave?

You leave us with much joy and loss makes us grieve.

It’s not like I knew you, It’s not like we made touch

There is something about ‘heros’ that matter so much

~

I’m not hanging on your shirt tail, better that frilly shirt

I be part of the millions of fans that shutter with mirth

Thanks for your music, thanks for your visual gifts

Thanks for being the hero  we all  needed to make you a great myth

~

I give no goodbye, see you later La Petit Prince

I’ll sing along with your music, I’ll be sure to dance

RETURN TO EARTH’S WISDOM

day 21…

garden2000#2

dscn9681

Return to Earth’s wisdom

Listen to the message she calls you to hear

With heart centered silence, wait

The roots of the trees know your every move

~

Abide gently on this surface

Take no more than what you can return

Be not a cancer that will extinct itself

Let the Spring wash you clean

~

Give prayer for all this abundance

Fill up on the gratitude of Earth’s offerings

Steward the place that you live and breath on

She evolves as you do

~

We are all connected

Not one small seed, or grain of sand

Is without the grace and presence

Of being here sharing this space with you

~

Return to Earth’s wisdom

Breath with the wind

Walk with the roots

Let the rain purify you

Lay in the grass and listen

SOFT PRESENCE

day 14… prompt from NaPoWriMo…   a ‘san san’ . a san san is a 7 line poem that repeats 3 different images and has a rhyme pattern that goes like this.  a,b,c,b,d,c,d.  New to me.  and here it goes.

nude sleeping

You are here in your soft presence.

Even in the angles and edges of you

There is comfort in how your curves find me

I settle in to the soft presence of what you do

Angles and edges are puzzle pieces that fit mine

Curves that silken what my touch sees

We become one of a magical kind
