Life’s Weather … Haiku

Wisconsin sky

Winter’s best gave birth

Bound to white and freeze a wail

Sun makes for glitter

Sun makes for glitter

Youth storms and calms joyously

Many paths Spring green

Many paths Spring Green

Life lust wanders earth’s mystery

Be Here Now Be here

Be Here Now Be here

A landscape lush and fertile

Outer seeks inner

Outer seeks inner

Green gives of her abundance

Magic gives to blooms

Magic gives to blooms

Starry nights take the Sunlight

Autumn carpet ride

Autumn carpet ride

Green embraces her spicy

Breath takes in the shift

Breath takes in the shift

Edges of Winter slow to rest

Silence whispers yes

Silence

whispers

yes

The path home is so unlike the path through the trees

and ferns, the intense voice of green calling up

all and every bit of lush and bloom. Up and

out for Spring’s few weeks of rising in her

Northern exposure.

The last of the trillium bent down to give

her final breath to earth till her next year.

While the poppies make a field of orange

and purple heads up to seek the sun

in it’s path across the northern sky.

I made words to stories of childhood amidst

the quiet of this place of Clearing and creating.

Feeling the spaciousness beneath forest wild

with the dappled blue of sky and the floor of

hungry life rising green for the carpet

Childhood didn’t know this place.  I held her

hand as we walked the paths, sat together

in an arbor of green, inhaled the wonders

of how those days brought us to these days

We remembered what needed remembering.

First full day of writer’s retreat.  Words bubble and spill and some will find there way here.

There’s no forgetting

Why sky blooms on forest floor

Earth and sky are One

LIPS WITH BUTTERFLY

My eyes wide open in the dark

I saw nothing

My eyes closed in the dark

I saw everything

A life lived has so much breath to it.

I dedicate this poem to Norb and Jude.

norb and jude

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A life lived has so much breath to it
Millions of gasps of surprise
The pants of  anxiety
The hold on of disbelief
The hunger heave of desire
The whisper of holding silence
Bellows of breath for cheer
Moans of air between sobs
A life lived has so much breathing
with out much notice to how
the inhales and exhales are
moved by our moments crowded
by another moment of joy of
sorrow, of silence, of love, in the
unexpected expanse of engaging life
as it comes and goes like breathing
in and out. Breathing in and out.
Till the last breath struggles out
and lays it wisp on the bare shoulder
of the one you love, a kiss good bye.
A life lived has so much breath to it.
